We are located in the historic Olde Towne section of Portsmouth, Virginia. We share our home and hearts with our Shiloh Shepherds - Breeze, Midas & Odyssey. and our Giant Malamute - Alosia. Our dogs live indoors with us - they are never kenneled.
As trusted guardians and contributors to the future of these phenomenal giant breeds, we take our roles seriously. We are dedicated to raising healthy, well-socialized, balanced and happy dogs that enjoy a variety of activities and reflect the attributes that initially attracted us to these two distinct breeds -- incredible intelligence, beautiful conformation, devotion, stable temperament, size, and wonderful health.
We conduct and support health testing, and we believe in providing transparency of results to fellow breeders and any future puppy families. We proudly display our Health & Pedigree information.
The Shiloh Shepherd is a rare and unique breed -- a loyal, loving family member, protector, guardian and friend. Shilohs are known for their incredible intelligence, very large size, wholesome beauty, and versatility.
There are many wonderful Shiloh breed ambassadors involved in search & rescue, therapy work, agility, conformation showing, herding, obedience and many more activities. With the combination of giant size coupled with their uncanny intelligence -- foundation dogs include German Shepherd Dogs, American Shepherds, White Shepherds and Giant Malamute -- they require exercise, mental stimulation and a purpose in life.

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan A stately pleasure-dome decree: Where Alph, the sacred river, ran Through caverns measureless to man Down to a sunless sea.
For he on honey-dew hath fed, And drunk the milk of Paradise.
an excerpt from"Kubla Khan; or, "A Vision in a Dream: A Fragment" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Alosia, 10 months Wakon's Alosia Morning Star of Xanadu
is the newest addition to Xanadu. She was born in March 2009 and is from Wakon Giant Alaskan Malamutes. March 2009 and is from Wakon Giant Alaskan Alosia is an AKC registered, pure-bred descendant of the M'loot Malamute that lived with the ancient Inuit peoples in the high Arctic hundreds of years ago.
"Malamutes were bred to pull the biggest loads over the farthest distance. The Eskimos learned it was better to have one huge dog that could do the work of 3 smaller ones. It was this knowledge that led the Eskimos to practice some of the best breeding practices on earth. They needed such a huge dog to survive and they practiced the best selective breeding program of any place on earth. If the dog did not have the perfect, ideal coat, legs, feet, body, and temperament, he could not survive such a harsh environment. (courtesy of Wakon Malamutes)
We are honored to welcome Alosia to Xanadu and look forward to spending many active, healthy years with her. Check back often for updates on this gorgeous and intelligent girl.
