Fun Match - 9/12/09
Alosia and Midas participated in the Colonial
Terrier Club All Breed Fun Match in Hampton,
Virginia on September 12.

This was Alosia's first show, and we are very
proud of her.  She has lots of growing to do, and
Fun Matches are a great way to encourate
socialization and introduce dogs to showing.

Midas went along to lend encouragement!  He
wowed the spectators and was a wonderful
ambassador for Shilohs.

Both dogs were Best of Breed, and Alosia
received a beautiful Group 3 ribbon.
AKC Match - 9/20/09

Alosia participated in her first AKC
Sanctioned Match on Sunday, September 20
at Kempsville Park in Virginia Beach, VA

She received  ribbons for first place in the
6 - 9 month class and Best of Breed.

The weather was beautiful and provided
good socialization and practice.
Midas at Sweet Briar College
Kelsey asked if Midas could come with the
family when we picked her up for
Thanksgiving break.  He was a tremendous
breed ambassador, calm travel partner, and he
loved the beautiful campus and meeting new
friends.  Plus, it gave us some great photos!
Learning to Read
Inspired by a Shiloh Shepherd named Cady
and her dedicated owner/trainer Martha,
with our Shilohs - teaching them to read we
are embarking on a learning adventure and
respond to written obedience commands.
We are very excited to incorporate this fun
activity in our daily training exercises.
Here are a few photos of our first 2 learned
words "Sit" and "Lay".
Stay tuned for future updates.
Ozzy notices word pattern
for Sit and follows command.
While Kelsey was home for Winter
break, we filmed Alosia doing a few new
tricks and enjoying time at the park.

Due to a recent leg/hip injury, Alosia is
on restricted leash exercise, but it's not
stopping her from having fun.

Paws for Cause Festival
Olde Towne Portsmouth was the location of the 2nd Annual
Paws for Cause dog walk and festival,
supporting the Portsmouth Humane Society.
Kelsey was home for the weekend,
so we leashed up Alosia and Ozzy and headed for the fun which
included a 1 mile walking parade through Olde Towne, then
back to North Street Landing for music, games, vendors, and
food.   There must have been close to 200 dogs there reported
that over $26,000 was raised.  It was a great event!
Socializing, greeting friends and meeting new ones.
The day was beautiful and warm for the walk.
Afterwards, dogs and humans took a
deserved shady rest

Ozzy Graduates Advanced Basic Obedience
Congratulations Ozzy!

Ozzy graduated from
Advanced Basic Obedience.
The class reinforced basic
obedience commands and
introduced a variety of
distractions - sights, sounds,
unfamiliar people, dogs,
and introduced agility
elements.
What a great class.
During September, we move
up to the next level.
Alosia & Kelsey tried their hand
(paws) on a fun agility course at
Pawsitive Attitudes.

This was Alosia's introduction to
the equipment, and we are very
proud of her.

Could Alosia have a new activity in
her future?
She had a blast and excitedly
"Woo-Woo'd" her way through
class, cheering on her classmates.
