Midas is the epitome of the perfect dog, with a stable balanced temperament,
incredible intelligence, gorgeous conformation, and appropriate working
drive. He is a big boned, broad Shiloh with a heart of gold.
He is by far the largest dog in our neighborhood, and everyone knows him.
Because of his calm, gentle nature, Kelsey often takes him to the coffee and
news kiosk at the ferry stop. Midas is an unofficial greeter and always a
conversation starter. We have grown accustomed to hearing, "Oh my, look at
his head", and next "Look at those feet!". Our favorite remark to date was
when a group of people exited a tour bus and one patron shouted out, "Are
they walking a bear?" Since that time we've had people guess "wolf" and
most recently "Shetland pony". But my favorite reaction was the woman who
put her hand to her chest and proclaimed with tears in her eyes, "he touches
my soul." That he does.
As a male Shiloh, he is a defender of his home, and his girl Breeze. His sheer
size is enough of a deterrent, and he has earned respect in our neighborhood
through his calm, confident demeanor. Midas earned his Canine Good
Citizen and Therapy Dog International certifications.
Midas sired his first litter by Breeze in 2007 - 8 gorgeous puppies who have
his fabulous, dark pigment.
He is a breed and ISSDC champion, NAKC International Champion, multiple
Best of Breed and Best in Show winner. Midas is a 2009 NSBR Top Dog. He is
a great friend and companion and the love of our lives.
